Past Meeting December 6, 2011, Monthly Meeting at the Cloquet Gospel Tab We had a great pancake supper. Thanks to the guys who prepared the food. The following is what I asked for...... "And this month, I really need your help with the message !! As I mentioned last meeting, I would like you come prepared to share at least one (or more) scripture with the group that has been especially meaningful to you in your walk with the Lord. It may be a verse or two that has been a significant challenge in your Christian life, with which you may have had some victories and some failures too. It may be a “life verse”, or it may a verse that was and is a great comfort to you, or one that is you think is exceptionally powerful. Share the verse with the group and take a couple minutes to tell us why it is so important to you. Everyone bring you bible to the meeting." It went very well I thought. Everyone brought at least one verse as a special verse. I hope to get the audio posted soon. It would be worth linstening to. Past Meeting November 1, 2011 The speaker was Jaramie Logelin. The coffee and cookies time at 6:30 pm is eng very well attended.
At my request to Jaramie, his topic was , "Stewardship of the Planet we live in from a Christian Perspective". Jaramie is employed by the MPCA and is a strong Christian so he brought a knowleble viewpoint on this topic. I really enjoyed his message.

Scott Stariha from the Duluth Gospel Tab gave a great message on about how God has worked in his life, and what he sees that God has for men in this age. I first meet Scott many years ago and heard him give his testimony. Scott had a severe industrial accident and dedicated his life to the Lord after the accident. It seemed to be an especially powerful evening.

Pastor Virgil Rasmussen gave us an exciting challenge on the topic, "Finishing Well". One of the ideas he shared is that we may have things in our lives that we have done well, others not so well, and others not well at all. The things that we have not done well in the past should be moved into the "doing well" category of our life. It's not good enough to just maintain the status quo and not slip back, but we need to become stronger and stronger.
One of Virgil's heros is obviously the Apostle John. John was "in the Spirit" on the Island of Patmos when he was in his 90's and had one of the most outstanding experiences recorded in history, the Revelation of Jesus Christ. John definitely finished well, and the challenge is there for us to finish well in the Spirit.

Title: "The Commission of a Leader"
John Burmeister was born and raised in a Christian family and in a Bible believing church. In his early teens he went after the things of the world, seeking popularity and fulfillment apart from God and ended up using drugs and drinking heavily while deeply involved in the partying lifestyle; in and out of jail for a period of three years, incurring a broken neck and two felonies while almost killing two others in a car accident he was miraculously saved and commissioned by God to be a leader. Mike Odberg is founder and Operations Director/Lead Guide for Ascending Adventures, Inc. and a former teacher, coach, and college outdoor recreation coordinator. Mike seemed to have the "American dream" in his grasp when coaching revealed the depth of his pride and exposed a crumbling foundation. Mike's frequent trips canoeing into the wilderness offered him a revelation of Jesus Christ through the Lord's creation and offered an opportunity to re-examine his life. After much wrestling, he received Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in 1998. Together, John and Mike are developing Mighty Oaks Academy for Men, an intense ten-month, discipleship training school for men. Mighty Oaks is a combined effort of Ascending Adventures, Inc. and Foundations International School of Ministry. Mighty Oaks will launch in July 2011. Past Event

Paul Sundberg giving photo tips to the guys
The speaker for February 8th was Paul Sundberg. Paul is the Park Manager for the Gooseberry Falls State Park. I have known Paul for many, many years and I have always appreciated his enthusiasm for the North Shore, and respected his commitment to the Lord. We had a great time with Paul even though the weather was pretty bad. Even so, about 20 guys showed up and we really enjoyed Paul's presentation.
Among his other talents, Paul is an accomplished nature photographer. I visited his website and was absolutely blown away with the quality of his work.
Before our regular meeting time, at about 6:15 pm or so, at my request, Paul spent some time providing a “question and answer” tutorial on wildlife and landscape photography for those of us that were interested.
During the regular meeting time. Paul gave us a presentation of some of his photographic work focused on God's wonderful Northshore and the BWCA. Paul also told us a little about his experience with Christ.
I have attached a “Screen Capture” of his website to this notice. You can visit Paul's website at http://www.paulsundbergphotography.com
If you want an audio of his talk, let me know.
In Christ, Ted
